Russell has been writing songs for over forty years.  He studied music at Pomona College where he received a B.A. and then studied at Mills College where he received a Masters in Music Composition.  His songs are mostly in the Country/Rock tradition with splashes of reggae, bop, pop and rhythm & blues thrown in.
