Kanab, Utah 84741
I moved back to Kanab in 1991 and lived with my Mom while I ran and built up the Kanab Fitness Center a health club in downtown Kanab. Russell the businessman, Oh Yeah. Sold it in 1998 for a nice little profit, and with the money, I paid off my house in Kanab. Got hired as a seasonal back country ranger for Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument in 2000 and then was paid to go hiking and backpacking for the next five years. But the job was only seasonal and so I applied and took a permanent position in 2005, and now work as a Interpretation Ranger at the Monument's Visitor Center in Big Water, Utah.
Greenehaven, Arizona 86040
Big Water is 60 miles east of Kanab, so rather than commute 120 miles everyday I decided to try an find a place closer to work. Greenehaven is a homeowners association community halfway between Page, AZ and Big Water, UT surrounded by the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area (there'll be no sprawl) about 10 miles from where I work. We bought a small manufactured home there in 2005, with about 1000 square feet. So I stay in Greenehaven when I'm working and go back to Kanab on my days off to hang with Laurel, who runs Savage Point Bed & Breakfast out of our home in Kanab. Greenehaven has the view!
The developer says it's a "Million Dollar View" and he's probably right. From my deck - 23'X22' - I look out to see Lake Powell, Navaho Mountain, Fifty Mile Mountain, the Kaiparowitz Plateau, Lone Rock, Tower Butte, Castle Rock, Alstrom Point, just to name a few sights
- it's pretty awesome.
